Montalcino
Tuscany, perhaps Italy's most important wine region is a real heart throb. Not only is it the birthplace of the Renaissance era and Opera, but it is also the mother land of Italian greats like Leonardo da Vinci and Dante. With more UNESCO world heritage sites than South Africa and Australia, the distinguishing rolling hills and cypress trees of Tuscany are something to be treasured. Tuscany has an impressive array of DOCG's under its belt, think Chianti Classico (the nations go-to) or Brunello di Montalcino (the prestigious one). However, it's wine goes far beyond traditional indigenous styles. The 'Super Tuscan' wines are used to describe the region's top red wines that are made using international grape varieties and are well worth exploring.
