Vinho Verde
The linguists amongst us won't have any trouble translating Vinho Verde to mean 'green wine'. Some say the name was supposedly given to the wine due to the luscious rolling green landscape, whilst other's say that the real translation means 'young wine' and refers to the fresh zingy spirits of their wine that should be harvested and drunk whilst young. Either way, what is for sure is that Vinho Verde has surged in popularity over the last decade and for good reason. Their wines are fresh, slightly spritzed, and often lower in alcohol meaning it makes for the perfect accompaniment for any situation. Aperitif hour, friends BBQ, fancy dinner party food pairing, it just slots into our lives all too easily, and empties out of our glasses oh so quickly.
