Tasting Notes
Vinous 93
The 2006 Talbot has an attractive bouquet of pure black cherry and blueberry fruit, a little more refined than its peers. It is less mentholé in style and therefore delivers commendable delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins. A touch of aniseed is just a little distracting, but the 2006 retains fine balance and seems to have coalesced since I last tasted it. Quite delicious.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2045
Robert Parker 88
Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Château Talbot already shows more maturity in the glass, though nothing to get too concerned about. The nose is very traditional with cedar and tobacco scents dominating the fruit, a touch of the old “stately home.” The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, moderate weight in the mouth, but with a rather austere finish. It has character, if not quite the class of its peers this vintage. Tasted January 2016.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026
