The 2008 Les Ormes de Pez has a typical Saint Estèphe nose with singed leather and earthy aromas infusing the dusky black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, moderate depth but it feels rather conservative on the grippy finish. It just needs more charm. Hey…lose that frown! (Tasted at BI Wine & Spirit’s annual 10-Year On tasting.)

This dark ruby/purple-tinged sleeper of the vintage offers a sweet bouquet of black currants, underbrush, licorice and berry fruit. Medium to full-bodied with excellent depth, good acidity and an endearing roundness, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years.
