Vinous 92
The 2021 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru has a simple nose with brambly red berry fruit. It’s a little rustic but clean and fresh with fine delineation. An unprepossessing bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with suppler, more pliant tannins than Henri Boillot’s Volnay Chevrets. Well balanced with lightly spiced red berry fruit. Not a powerful Volnay, yet focused with a dash of white pepper on the finish. This is a lovely Volnay to enjoy over the next 15 years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
