The Sadie Family Kokerboom 2023 from the Olifants River is a striking expression of Semillon, mainly Blanc with a touch of Gris, grown on sandstone, shale and silt in Sadie’s most northerly vineyard. Under Eben Sadie’s guidance, the grapes are hand-harvested and aged in large old foudres with no new oak, allowing the vineyard’s character to shine. The 2023 vintage is bright and focused, showing yellow plum, citrus rind and a fine stony minerality with a long, saline finish. Perfect with grilled prawns, oysters or smoked fish.
