The grapes are grown across many subregions that all create their own distinctive style. The main ones being Cote d'Or, Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Cote Chalonnaise, Maconnais, Chablis and the Auxerrois. The landscape across the region is famous for its limestone soils which gives the wines their distinctive minerality and complexity that so many people love.
