Toro lies in western Spain, between Valladolid and the Portuguese border. Tinta de Toro is the protagonist here, the local name for Tempranillo. The warm, dry climate means these wines can be more muscular and dense than those of Rioja or the Ribera del Duero but the Vega Sicilia team, as ever, demonstrate their know-how and skill in this silky, elegant little number.
