2013 Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet, Echezeaux Grand Cru

There is just a single barrel from the Rousseau cooperage of the 2013 Echezeaux Grand Cru that comes from the lieu-dit “Les Treux”. It has the only parcel where Amelie is the only person working in the vineyard, so since 2014 she can do what she wants. It is bestowed a very seductive bouquet with raspberry preserve, touches of marmalade and orange blossom, fine mineralite coming through. It is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, raspberry and orange rind intermingled and leading to quite a structured finish. It just needs a little more length, but that would come in a more benevolent vintage. [Neal Martin, 15/12/2014]
