THIS IS US
MEET MARLO
So as much as we don’t want Marlo to be about us, we thought we’d better just give you a snap shot of life in the office. It’s mostly a mish-mash of talking about work, new restaurant openings, the latest release of Nike Air Max trainers, sport and our shared love of stationery (in no particular order).
Benjamin
Known to all as Dawesey. He’s the boss man with a serious love for Bordeaux and a Schoffel gilet. You will never hear him waxing lyrical about wine, but he knows what he likes and he always has his focus on finding a deal.
What was your nickname at school? Dawesey, people now think it’s my real name. Sometimes I get post for Mr Dawesey Dawes.
What is the one wine that sticks in your mind as an all time favorite? 1978 Hermitage La Chapelle, I drank it on a trip to Bordeaux with a great friend and it stood out as an amazing wine.
What bottle would you take if you were trying to impress someone? Classic vintage from Vieux Chateau Certan because it’s Bordeaux at its best.
What is your guilty pleasure? Shoes.
If you had a dog what would you call it? Marlo. We've got a son named Milo and a daughter named Margot, hence how we came up with the company name Marlo.
If you could be on holiday right now, where would you be? Turks and Caicos. My wife and I went here on honeymoon and it was pretty epic.
Will
He is a giant of a wine lover and seriously knows his stuff. Will loves his sport, a good restaurant and his trips to the States.
What was your nickname at school? Big man. If you’ve met me, you know.
What is the one wine that sticks in your mind as an all time favorite? 1985 Haut Brion. Before I knew anything about wine, I could tell it was special.
What bottle would you take if you were trying to impress someone? Jamet Cotes du Rhone Blanc. To show you don’t need to spend big bucks if you know what you’re doing.
What is your guilty pleasure? Costco pizza slices! No better way to spend £1.85.
If you had a dog what would you call it? Dexter.
If you could be on holiday right now, where would you be? Anywhere warm! Maybe Mauritius.
Pip
Is tackling the social media and learning more on a daily basis from these mega wine miesters.
What was your nickname at school? There were too many, Squeak, Pip Squeak, Phil, Philly, Ploppers, Pippaplops, apparently there are endless possibilities with a name like Phillipa.
What bottle would you take if you were trying to impress someone? In the summer I’d probably take a big bottle of Chase rosé or some Pol Roger champagne, mostly because I like drinking it!
What is your guilty pleasure? Shopping, buying paintings on Ebay and eating Ikea hot-dogs smothered in mustard and ketchup.
If you had a dog what would you call it? Geoff, I always loved Geoff from Byker Grove.
If you could be on holiday right now, where would you be? Menorca, I love it, we used to go there as children and now I take my children. I spend most of my life trying to figure out how to live on the island permanently.
