The 2022 WM BROWN Haut-Medoc is the realisation of Matt Hranek's lifelong passion for wine, brought to life through collaboration, and a deep appreciation for Bordeaux. Inspired from an early age by his father’s love of wine and his Italian heritage, Matt’s journey eventually led him to the Médoc, a region he and his family quickly fell in love with. A serendipitous meeting with Basile and Bérangère Tesseron of Château Larrivaux sparked not only a shared vision for winemaking but also a lasting friendship. Their expertise and guidance played a crucial role in shaping this wine, crafted from the finest plots from Château Larrivaux.
This Merlot-led blend is elegant yet approachable, offering rich layers of dark fruit, subtle spice, and earthy complexity. Ripe blackberry, cassis, and plum unfold on the palate, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco, and graphite. Silky tannins and a well-integrated oak influence create a refined, lingering finish. Whether enjoyed now or aged further, this wine reflects the charm of the Médoc beyond its famed châteaux. "Collaboration between WM Brown and Ch Larrivaux in Cissac Medoc, and it's honestly great to see Bordeaux estates doing smart collaborations and reaching out to a new audience. The blend here is a little more Merlot than the main Larrivaux wine, aimed at earlier drinking with supple tannins and a sense of joy, ready for sharing.
