Bruno Clair farms some of the most respected parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, where iron-rich soils and limestone slopes give Pinot Noir both structure and savoury depth. The domaine, originally part of the historic Clair-Dau estate, is known for thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking that prioritises balance over power.
The 2019 vintage was warm but well judged, yielding small berries with excellent ripeness and natural concentration. Clair’s gentle extraction and modest oak use keep the wine composed and precise.
In the glass, it shows red and dark berry fruit with hints of spice and a subtle earthy note that marks it unmistakably as Gevrey. Youthful now, it will develop well over the next decade.
A refined, quietly confident Gevrey that pairs beautifully with roast duck, game birds or mushroom dishes.
